Camping at Lake Greenwood

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday we did our first campout with our new travel trailer to get the kinks out. We created quite a list of "forgotten or needed" items so it a good trip. We had some guests as you can see by the photos and it rained with thunderstorms and lightning almost all night the first night. You can also see how low the lake is in one photo. Calvin had a good time trying to chase the squirrels and we had a good time relaxing and enjoying the views. Everything worked great and we're planning on joining the Lakelands Sams, a goodsam club chapter, in mid November for the Charleston Christmas Lighting Ceremony. In September we may go down to Aiken for a weekend.

Update on Travel Trailer

Brought the travel trailer home this Tuesday. Had to have a tree removed so we could park it by the house. Here are some photos. 30amp outlet gets installed tomorrow.

Sunday drive

Today we visited Laurens, SC. Laurens is located in northwestern South Carolina close to where I-385 from Greenville joins I-26 (about two-thirds of the way from Columbia to Greenville). It is the county seat of Laurens County. Both Laurens and Laurens County are named after Henry Laurens of Charleston, who was president of the Continental Congress during the Revolutionary War. The original inhabitants of Laurens County were the Cherokee. John Duncan, the first known white settler, arrived in 1754. On March 12, 1785, the General Assembly established Laurens and five other counties out of the old Ninety-Six District.

We stopped by Lake Rabon, a small lake near Laurens and took some photos. I also modified my Silverado with a bed cover and nerf bars(steps). Priscilla was having trouble getting in. The bed cover will protect luggage etc during our trips with our travel trailer.

Our new toy

Well we finally bit the bullet and bought a new Jayco Jay Flight 26ft travel trailer. We really want to travel the US while we're healthy and enjoy ourselves. We plan on going up to Maine in October for about 3 weeks or a month to visit relatives there and in Pittsburgh and see the autumn leaves. We also will be going back California in December to visit the girls and friends for the holidays.

I also took a photo from our deck this morning while we were sitting out reading our Sunday newspaper. Yesterday we were able to talk to our daughters and Melanies Father-in-law Richard at Brandon's 7th birthday bash. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves which made us feel good.
